3.3 Who are our members?

According to Drucker "customer" is considered to be"….. the one who values your service and who must be satisfied" Those are classified to primary (whom the organization provides a service), and supporting customers, who both must be satisfied (Drucker, 1993:21)

1. First grade members

The First grade members of CWF are the Athletes. There are 10 to 15 Athletes, aged between 8 and 16 years old. Those are divided into three teams:
1) Novice 2) Talents 3)Elite Skiers. The CWF provides them with quality training by qualified physical education instructors specialized in Water-ski; entertainment, as they spend a pleasant time by the beach with other co-athletes while waiting for their turn to water-ski; proximity as the athletes easily access the training venue. Furthermore, the CWF provides them with water-ski equipment and appraises their training progression performance, as various competitions with trophies are periodically organized to evaluate their progress.

2. Assisting members

Assisting members are considered to be: The coaches, judges, volunteers, Water-ski clubs, sponsors, parents, the Cyprus High Sport Authority, various occasional sponsors and values which are provided to each of these members, are mentioned below.

The values that the CWF provides for the Parents are training and taking care of their children; an all round development of the personality of their child; assurance that their children are somewhere safe and on the same time they are involved in a healthy sport activity. Finally parents get to socialise amongst themselves.

As far as values that are provided to the Volunteers as regarded, the CWF provides them with a spirit of teamwork and makes them feel that they are useful to the sport; they are given the opportunity to work for the sport and provide new ideas that are useful for its further development. It is also worth mentioning that most of the volunteers are the parents of the athletes, so they feel that by helping the CWF, they help their children.

There are two to three Coaches depending on the number of athletes. The values provided to them are career-oriented job; practice their studies; they get financial support to attend seminars in Cyprus and abroad, so they develop their knowledge and expertise; traveling abroad for competitions and working for the CWF; receive recognition, status and prestige for being the coaches of the national team.

Through the CWF the Cyprus High Sport Authority (CHSA) implement its objectives into action. Furthermore, the CWF carries out the policy of CHSA nationally and internationally and promote Cyprus in an international level.

The CWF provides the Sponsors with the opportunity to promote their products through the athletes and the National Team.

As far as the Clubs are concerned, the CWF assists them in organizing competitions; members from the clubs form the board of directors of the CWF; sometimes, depending on their athlete's performance, they receive some financial support by the federation. Moreover, the best athletes from the clubs, are the selected ones who form the national team and therefore promote the club itself.

The Judges receive recognition and status in the sporting arena; they travel abroad; and they are offered the opportunity to assist in promoting Water-skiing.

Based on his accumulated experience over the past ten years, the author believes that the customer base of the CWF should be broaden, something that can be achieved by promoting Water-skiing to a greater extent by persuading the media to provide greater coverage of its activities and events.

CWF should also concentrate its efforts in attracting new volunteers, Judges and sponsors.
